Hi. I have a 3 month old golden and in the past three days a big lump has appeared. It has grown every day but it isn’t red, itchy, or irritating him. I can touch it without a reaction. I’m calling the vet in the morning but I’m just trying to find out what it is or if anyone has an idea.
Hello! Paradoxically, a lot of cancerous lumps are not irritating to the patient, where as a lot of inflammatory lumps (stings, abscesses etc) are. This does not help to identify your particular lump, however - it is extremely unreliable as a diagnostic tool. Only a vet can identify lumps, using microscopic or histological methods, so I'm pleased that you are going to see them. If you search through the blog for the word 'lump,' you will find several interesting articles on the subject including one I wrote myself. Best of luck and please let us know how you get on.
