<b>There seems to be a second nail growing. It's not from the paw pad, just directly underneath the existing one. Any idea if this is worth getting checked out prior to his next annual appointment (which would be in 6 months)? Picture attached. </b>

Hello! I think that may be part of the first nail- occasionally the keratin casing of the nail gets ripped away from the soft bit (the Quick) underneath. If this was the case, I would expect it to be sore. I would also wonder about nerve damage, or even in extremis a tumour growing under the casing. Sometimes, the sore bit has happened already and the outer casing just hasn't come away. As any of these might be true and pain may be an issue, a vet check sooner rather than later is probably a good idea.
