Hello vets! I noticed some blood on my couch yesterday evening and upon inspection found it was coming from my 12 yo huskies bottom. The source of the bleeding looks to be just below and to the left of the rectum. He is acting completely normal and his BM’s are without blood. I just want to know if you believe this to just be a cut or possible abscess? He’s never had an issue like this before. Is this something I can clean and maintain on my own? The pic with the red circle is from last night and the pic on the left is this morning. He did not seem to have any new blood this morning until I tried to clean it up a little after his BM.

My boyfriend is at home with him while I am working. He advised there has not been any new blood in the area or on the furniture. He had another poop this afternoon that was normal. Just want to know if this needs to be addressed at the vet or if I can control/maintain it at home?

Hello!  I think that your vet ought to check this one and soon, because there is potentially an open sore with faeces passing over it, so you need to discuss potential infection.  Your vet may decide to biopsy in case there is change to the underlying cells, but they will assess the case when it's in front of them.  Please do let us know how you get on.
