Swollen leg

Can anyone advise as what this could be i can't get a vets appointment until next week his leg is swollen hes not crying in pain is still eating and drinking as normal toileting as normal he is just limping the vet i spoke to said its not classed as an emergency because he's still eating etc

I'm not sure what I'm looking at here and this is out of context for me.  Is that spontaneous bruising in the armpit?  Or something associated with some kind of trauma? - or neither of those things and that isn't bruising / I'm interpreting the picture wrong?  If you are seeing bruising or redness that just appears to have 'arrived' without you being aware how it got there, this it is worth telling your vet about specifically as it can suggest clotting problems or other systemic disease.  With spontaneous limb swelling, one might worry about lumps / swellings getting in the way of the lymphatic drainage - I have seen this in some non-urgent but serious situations and also some situations where it has progressed and become urgent extremely quickly.  If a condition appears to be progressing (getting worse rapidly), this it is worth telling your vet about this specifically - including limping, as this is a sign of pain.  It is always ok to ask to be triaged again - especially if you feel that the vet hasn't understood what you were describing. in which case a picture (e-mail?) can be useful.  However, only your vet knows what they have waiting (and the contents of the full in-context phone conversation) and it is up to them to arrange the priority list.  Usually, vets have an 'out of hours' representative who will triage cases out of hours if a later opinion appears to be needed.

This could be quite difficult to describe to a vet on the phone and if you feel that you have been wrongly triaged (that is, the process of deciding how urgent something is), it is better to call and ask again then wait and something be missed.
