Orig. thought bandage was too tight, but got even tighter after a rewrap.  Now on a very loose wrap, just enough to keeo the guaze on the incision, which is 2-3" above the swelling (nothing done there).   IDK if I should be doing something else. Background  - dental with 4 extractions & adenoma on back of neck removal & removal of odd "horn"  for side of left front leg He's also got a horrid cough & not sure honey & warm water is the best way to go to soothe his throat.

Hello and thank you for this question.  I am not clear whether you are bandaging this or your vet is, but either way it sounds as though it needs to be seen again as a matter of urgency.  It sounds as if you are not satisfied with the redress and if this is the case then politely say so.  This is because a) if the dressing is inappropriate, either because it wasn't appropriate in the first place or because swelling has occured and it is now inappropriate, then this  needs to be picked up and sorted out.  Swelling can lead to serious damage to the skin.  Or b) if the bandage is as the vets intended it - less likely from the description - it sounds as though you would benefit from an explanation for this, an indication of 'when you should worry' and to ask them to describe it in the notes, so that the vet and not you is taking responsibility for assessing this dressing.  You can ask to see an emergency vet or a different  / more senior vet in the team if you are struggling to trust your own.   I hope that that helps.

Regarding the cough, it may be from an anaesthetic tube which can damage the throat lining, or even infection eg kennel-cough or something else.  Your vet should also assess this for you - please tell them about the cough in advance to going in, because where kennel cough is a concern, they might ask you not to wait in the waiting room, for infection control.

Because limbs swelling around banages can be an emergency, please speak to your vets ASAP.
