Hi, we are due to receive our new puppy, but his mum has bitten him (due to his sharp teeth and still wanting to suckle.) She damaged his eye. We have a photo and vets report, can someone, advise us in plain English the best and worst case outcomes.
Hello- these notes as presented appear to suggest that the globe is unable to move around in the socket; that the changes to the eye will cause serious consequences to the patient to such an extent that the globe (eyeball) may need to be removed. I'm not sure what the best case scenario is - the vet does not appear to offer treatment options. It may be that removal of the globe is what they would reccommend. With the owners permission, which they will have to give, you might be able to chat to the vet concerned about it.
Unfortunately we are not allowed to discuss another vets case in any more detail; please take any queries back to the vet themselves with the owner's permission.
I agree with my colleague - the report shown here describes the worst case clearly, but what treatment might be available and possible success rates aren’t discussed.
I think this needs discussion with the vets involved, with the consent of the current owner, to get a better picture of what the likely impact will be. Good luck!
