Hello and I'm so sorry to hear that Lucky is ill, particularly at a time when financial pressure is high. It sounds as though this does have the potential to be serious. Diseases presenting in this way include things like severe gastroenteritis, parvo, pyometra (intact females only), diabetes, kidney failure, liver disease, cancer, Calcium imbalance, infection and others ...immediate or urgent treatment may therefore be vitally important. In many of the cases presenting like this which can be treated, treatment would be ongoing or complicated.
However, the important thing right now is that Lucky is unwell and may be suffering, so you do have a duty of care to present her to a vet; if you ask for triage over the phone (that's where they decide on how soon a case needs to be seen), they may even decide to book this in as an emergency. The vet will examine Lucky and give you a realistic idea of treatment and costs going forward, including a) stabilisation (Lucky may require fluids), b) tests to work out what's going on and c) treatment. Your vet will also help you to know whether you are in a position to receive financial help with this eg through the PDSA (UK). Because Lucky's symptoms sound so serious, there is a possibility that you may decide against any work-up or treatment; if this is the case, a good vet will not be judgemental. What is most important is that Lucky is comfortable and not suffering and that you understand the options available, so that you can make the best decisions for Lucky's ongoing welfare. This will require an understanding of the unique clinical picture, financial aspects and other unique factors in this case.
Please contact your vet as soon as possible. Wishing you and Lucky all the very best.
