My 6 year old Husky has ALT of 2640 with dilution as it was so high it could not even read.. his WBC is 19 and BilliRubin is 11.5 they do not think that he will have a great outcome from hospitalization treatment but,I am not ready to give up how long does a dog survive especially without eating.
Hello - that is very high. What is causing it? Liver enzymes provide a vague indicator of how much stress the liver cells are under just before take the sample. They are not really much of an indicator of prognosis (outcome) of treatment - the next question is therefore, whatiscausingtheenzymestobesohigh? If its because of a tumour for example (and if so, can it be removed?) or a containable toxic episode. Usually your vet will try to find out and give you a prognosis in the context of what is happening in the patient.
To answer your question, survival without eating is different from survival without nutrition. However, being too ill too eat is a wealfare issue with no treatment
