Hello there - thankyou for sending photos of this beautiful nose, and the lump. I think that you're right to be concerned, to be honest - but it's not necessarily awful news. I can imagine swellings caused by folliculitis or demodex mites looking like this, or fly bites / wasp stings left in, or deep pustules. However, I also regret that some more sinister lumps could look like this too. It's definitely worth taking it off to your vet, who may decide to test it, or at least make sure that you're aware of the pros and cons. If you type 'lumps' 'masses' and / or 'biopsy' into our blog, hopefully you will find more information. I'm afraid that both cancer and demodex mites, as well as at least some of the pustles that we see, present as quite painless. So the lack of pain is not as useful an indicator of prognosis as clients sometimes hope. Wishing all of you all the best.
