Hello dear vets
, my dog was run over exactly 10 days ago, we did immediate surgery on her and then rested her in a small cage to reduce her movements, today we took a photo of her to make sure of the situation, what do you see, what do you think, I would love to hear your opinion
Hello - I wonder why you are asking me at this stage in proceedings? I think that the vet who has done this surgery knows a lot more about your dog and the surgery and is therefore the best person to voice any concerns to. If you do not voice your concerns to your vet, they cannot respond to them. If you have had this conversation with the surgeon and are not satisfied with what you are hearing (this is still perfectly valid) then you could ask a) if it would be ok to refer the radiographs to an orthopaedic specialist for a second opinion and b) if they could show you some pictures of comparable operations. A good vet will not usually be fazed by this.
It worries me to receive this radiograph because it suggests that you do not trust you vet and want to check up on them - which is ok, but should be done through the proper channels, not by sending an image out of contect to a different vet behind their back. It would be very unprofessional of me to comment - your vet simply knows more about the case and clinical picture than I do.
You really didn't understand the intent of the questions and my concern, it's just that our appointment with the vet is really not in the near future because he is a private surgeon and until he gives us an answer we want to know what the vets say about the bone welding stage of the pelvis and that we will feel more that the dog's posture has improved, that's not really What do you think? The surgeon who performed the operation is a great man. He is simply not available for our questions at the moment for personal reasons. I asked a professional question and you answered me not politely, but I will test me. Why am I asking questions about my dog? I find your response a little strange.
You are simply a petty person without knowing you well, what worries us now is that everything is going well with the dog, for if there is something urgent that needs immediate intervention we will contact the appropriate person, and what interests you is something completely unprofessional and of no interest to you, it is just a way to find out Medical conditions for animals and there is no forum or place to give suspicion and suspicion whether the person asking puts faith in his veterinarian or not
Thankyou for your judgement on my character. Part of being a professional is knowing when not to give assurances about things we cannot know. Presumably - as they gave you the post op radiograph - your vet or nurse spoke to you on discharge about how they felt the operation went and what to expect. It seems a reasonable thing for you to be able to expect. I'm afraid that I have no information that your surgeon didn't have at that time. Often after pelvic surgery, there is a tense period while waiting for urination and deafecation - I am not clear whether this has passed. Best of luck over the next few days.
Considering this, a possible explanation for the unusual delay you describe before seeing the surgeon (most veterinary practise is private in the UK so that alone doesnt explain it) could be that the surgeon may be waiting to see how neurological function recovers before talking to you, as until then it may be hard to give out a verdict / prognosis.
Please don't worry on my account - I have not looked at the picture and this would reply would not be much different I did. Simply, this would be professionally inappropriate whatever the picture showed and if you scroll back through past radiographs - and the site rules - you will see that we do not interpret radiographs.
